What to expect in 2025?

The name of this year’s edition is “Contrasts, or the dialogue between technology and history”. A record number of 20 light installations will be presented along a 4.7 km long route, including five indoor installations (entry only with a ticket) and one special installation – a multimedia performance Square3. Square3 is a twenty-minute dance light performance by Pilsen creators from the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, for which advance ticket booking is also required. The performance, combining dance, projections and striking sound, will take you into a world of light and shadow, inventors, IT, robots and their inner world. The novelty of this year is a special workshop in the DEPO2015 area, where you will have the chance to make your own light brooch in a heart shape.

Transport to the start of the route

It’s up to you which direction you take, whether from the TechTower to the city centre, or the other way around. You can comfortably get to the TechTower by tram no. 2 (Brojova stop, Světovar direction from the centre), from where it is only a few steps away. Another option is bus no. 30 and no. 29, where we recommend getting off at the Pošta Francouzská stop. From there, it is less than 10 minutes on foot. You will find the best option for you and the timetables on the Pilsen City Transport Company website.

What you definitely should not miss?

We’d like to recommend here several installations that you definitely should not miss. Right at the beginning of the route, next to the TechTower building, you will discover one of the biggest attractions of this year – Flux. It is a light installation made up from a hundred of moving light arms. This kinetic statue may remind to someone a mysterious creature from the future or a fragile dancer moving gracefully to the rhythm of music. On the opposite side of the route, at the baroque Marian plague column, you can look forward to the unique laser show Synthetic Dance, that is, including a new symphonic poem, tailored particularly to the festival. The poem is inspired by historical architecture and events of Pilsen.

You also have to stop at the building of the Museum of West Bohemia and at the Slovany Town Hall (radnice Slovany), whose facades will be lit up by video mapping this year. The authors of the art work at the Slovany Town Hall, which you will find right next to the Galerie Slovany shopping mall, will be successful graduates of the third year of the School of Video Mapping under the guidance of the famous professor, founder and creative director of the project mammasONica, Luca Pulvirenti.

Among the indoor installations, for which it is necessary to buy a ticket in advance, you should not miss the Flock Of installation right at the beginning of the route. Together with a flock of ethereal fish, you will gracefully float through the space of a long-closed brewery, transformed to the TechTower technological park. Together with a sensitive play of light, you will find yourself in a giant art aquarium representing the interconnectedness of nature and technology. Between monastery walls of the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art in Franciscan Street (Františkánská), the Nemo Observatorium object will provide not only a fascinating, but also meditative experience similar to a whirling snowstorm. Imagine sitting in a chair and finding yourself in the middle of a vortex of events, sensations and illusions that will completely absorb you. If you are interested in science, visit the Pilsen Municipal Gallery, where you will see the The Drafts for Zero Gravity installation. The main elements are laboratory equipment, various optical and acoustic sensors, audio speakers, light-emitting diodes, lenses, mirrors or motors.
