Spring Trip to Pilsen: Grab the Start of the Summer Season by the Horns
As the first warm days arrive, both nature and Pilsen come to life with interesting events and expansive options for visitors. April is the ideal month to take a trip to the metropolis of West Bohemia – without the big tourist crowds, the weather is still perfect for walks and loads of intriguing places will open their doors for the first time since winter. Here are some tips on how to enjoy Pilsen to the fullest!
Seasonal tourist destinations open in April
On the 1st of April, Pilsen’s DinoPark will reopen after its winter break. This unique entertainment park, with its giant models of prehistoric creatures, is connected to the neighbouring Zoo, allowing visitors to combine their look into the past with living examples of nature today – all for a discounted price.
Also at the beginning of April, the Pilsen Diocese’s Museum of Ecclesiastical Art will welcome its first visitors to this former Franciscan monastery. This historic building is one of the oldest in the city, and it holds expositions on the sacred arts and explores liturgical themes. The museum is open every day except Mondays.
April’s sunny days are then ideal for visiting Pilsen’s gardens. The Hruška Meditation Garden is open from Wednesday to Sunday and offers a peaceful place for contemplation amongst the precious coniferous trees, ponds, and chapel. Also, on the first Wednesday of each month, you can view the Luft Garden, located nearby.
Finally, the monuments cared for by the National Heritage Institute will awake from their winter slumber, including the romantic Kozel Manor House. Aside from tours of the manor’s interior, be sure to also enjoy a stroll through the adjoining park. But remember: you have to pay to enter the park during the summer season, with the money going to upholding the area’s beauty.
