Nightlife in Pilsen
Pilsen, known as the cradle of beer, offers more than the legendary Pilsner ale but also a diverse and exciting nightlife. When the sun goes down, it transforms into a city full of fun, music, and good vibes. Whether you’re looking for a delicious drink, a glass of wine, a half-litre of beer, or the dancefloor, you’ll find it all right here. And we’ve got a few tips for you on original spots in the city centre certainly worth visiting. So, where to start in the exciting big city at night?
For beer
Start your evening out at one of the traditional pubs, where you can enjoy beer poured directly from the tank and pair it with something tasty. We recommend trying iconic Pilsen pubs such as Pivovarský šenk Na Parkánu, Lokál Pod Divadlem, Lékárna on Republic Square, Plzeňka, Restaurant 12, or the oldest alehouse in Pilsen, U Salzmannů. For beer specialities, head over to Zlatá kráva, Pivstro, or KEGzistence, where they keep twelve types of draft beer from all over the world on tap and over 100 other beers chilled in the fridge.
For wine
Pilsen then has something to offer wine lovers as well. For choice, high-quality wines from abroad, you should visit the stylish wine bar Symposio. If you like a good prosecco, then you can’t miss Prosekárna on Malá Street, which is quickly becoming a paradise for pleasure seekers thanks to the many establishments here. For some French wines, take a trip to Na břehu Rhôny, where you can taste test various bottles, even pouring them yourself like you would at home. Then the small wine bar on Skrétova Street, FineFrance, is worth a stop, given it offers fantastic French wines as well as fun, regularly scheduled events. As for Moravian and foreign bulk wines for a fair price, you should visit Vinný bar Hrozen. You can even take part in any of their wine tastings here.
For cocktails
Pilsen’s nightlife also includes amazing cocktail bars. Check out the stylish music bar Dominik CAFE with its great atmosphere and trendy (photogenic) terrace with umbrellas hung overhead. You can also enjoy delicious mixed drinks at Cavino, which features a menu of the local barmen’s favourite drinks. You then can’t go wrong by visiting Zapa Bar, Forestbar, Bar u Kylla, Le Consulat, or the My Friends bar on Americká Street. We’d recommend trying Jazz Rock café not only for the incredible cocktails but also for their frequently held cultural events. And you can also enjoy a refreshing menu at the alternative/modern atmosphere of the MōōVEMENT cultural bar, accompanied by musical productions by local DJs. If you’d like some hookah to go along with your cocktail, then we recommend the modern and fully mirrored interior at The Lounge. Other great hookah spots then include Rébus, Ignite, Invence, and the teahouse Čajovna u Pekla.
For dancing
Pilsen is the home of amazing music clubs, ideal for dance lovers. The moment you feel like spending a night on the dance floor, then you should head down to Club 21, where they actually have two of them. Rock music is played at the bottom dance floor, or you can enjoy Latino and current hits on the first floor. Then there are the new, multi-genre clubs like Díra, Nekonečný šum, and Bílej medvěd, where the DJs can convince even the biggest introverts to let loose.
Student nightlife
We’ve also got recommendations of amazing places for students looking to relax and have fun without breaking their wallets. If you like to dance, then you’d better stop by No Limit Bar, the big, multi-genre clubs like Fénix, Urbex, Mefisto, WaTT, and the university club Ucho in the Lochotín neighbourhood. For drinks, head over to the university clubs Pivoňka or Studna, and you’ll also find a vast selection of cocktails at La Rose café, Funkey Monkey, Café Regner, and Sally Brown. And don’t forget the university café Družba, which focuses on offering beverages from smaller producers, primarily from the Pilsen Region. Here you can enjoy beer from the Chříč Brewery, Il Sano mineral water from the family brewery Chodovar, and the delicious, fairly priced Cuban rum Ron Varadero.
