BLIK BLIK Festival of Light

One of the most significant cultural events of contemporary visual arts in the region – the BLIK BLIK Light Festival – is coming back to Pilsen in March, this year for the 10th time. Every year during the festival, various places around Pilsen come to life with light, thus offering a unique spectacle for anyone enjoying an evening stroll. At 20 stops, artists from around the world will present laser light mapping, video mapping, giant static projections or interactive light exhibits tailored to the location. The name of this year’s edition is Contrasts, or the dialogue between technology and history.

Tickets for the indoor installations must be purchased on the festival website. They will serve, at the same time, as a ticket for Pilsen city public transport between 6 pm and 1 am during the festival days.

What will make the 10th anniversary year special?

  • An expanded number of light installations – you will see 20 of them in total on the 4.7 km long route that will run from the modern technological park TechTower
  • through the culture zone DEPO2015 to the Republic Square.
  • The FLUX light installation at the beginning of the route – the French studio Collectif Scale will bring it to you to the area of the TechTower. A hundred of light arms in motion, which resembles a robotic dancer, has received widespread praise at other festivals of lights in Europe.
  • A unique laser show at the end of the route – it will light up the area around the Marian plague column on the central square and you will enjoy it accompanied by a symphonic poem, composed specially for this occasion.
  • A spectacular video mapping on the building of Slovany town hall and also on the building of the Museum of West Bohemia – right there, it will appear for the second time after ten years, once again under the direction of the French studio AV Extended.
  • The Square Project – a multimedia performance created in collaboration with the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. An impressive play of lights and shadows will unfold together with projections and contemporary dance.
  • Exhibits in interiors – a snowstorm, a light heart synchronized with visitors’ heartbeat or a flock of ethereal fish forming an art aquarium.
