The Christmas tree lighting ceremony belongs to unforgettable events in Pilsen. The unmissable symbol of Christmas will be lit up in the heart of the city on the Advent Sunday at 6 pm. A true festive atmosphere will be created also by a varied accompanying programme. You can look forward to several artistic performances, including the choir and ballet ensemble of J. K. Tyl Theatre that will present their dance magic to melodies of well-known Christmas songs. You will soak up the authentic Christmas spirit at the St Bartholomew’s Cathedral at 3 pm, as you will spend a pleasant Advent half an hour with organ improvisations. The lighting of the tree will be followed by the traditional composition Česká mše vánoční by the composer Jakub Jan Ryba, which will be performed by soloists from J. K. Theatre and the choir Česká píseň. The scent of punch, cinnamon and mulled wine together with the illuminated stalls of Christmas market will only enhance a pleasant feeling of the upcoming holiday season.
