Visiting the Pilsner Urquell Brewery is almost a must in Pilsen. On a guided tour, you will see the places where the first golden lager of the world-known Pilsner Urquell brand was born in 1842 thanks to the brewmaster Josef Groll. In fact, the iconic beer sticks to the original recipe, high-quality Czech ingredients included, to this day. Today, nearly 3 000 000 beers a day are brewed here, and afterward they are bottled into an admirable number of bottles: 120 000 per one hour!
You will learn more about the production process in detail on the route that won the title of The Best Brewery Tour in Europe for 2024 in a prestigious international competition World Travel Awards.
The tour will take you to every possible corner of the brewery: the bottling facility, the historical and modern brewhouse, the multimedia exhibition about ingredients and brewery jobs, and also to the 9-kilometre-long brewery cellars. Right there, a part of the brewery production is still brewed in the same way as it was in the mid-19th century. At the end of the tour, you will taste Pilsner Urquell beer poured straight from oak barrels in its unfiltered and unpasteurized form. This is not possible anywhere else, so prepare yourself for a unique beer experience.
