A view and cultural experience
Chlum lies southeast of Pilsen, not far from the city suburb of Doubravka, and it’s situated 416 m above sea level. The actual lookout tower is 25 m tall and 121 steps lead all the way to the top. It was built in 1929 thanks to the Czechoslovak Labour Union of Tourists and then repaired over the years, leaving it in a good technical state today. In the summer, it’s open to the public all week long. You’ll also find a small food stand and various cultural events held here.
Chlum is a popular place for locals and tourists wanting to enjoy nature and the panoramic views of West Bohemia. Thanks to its easy accessibility from the city, it’s the ideal spot for hikers and cyclists. Two paths lead to the top, namely the yellow and red trails as well as the 2151 bike path at the bottom of the hill.
