What can you discover at the gallery?
The Pilsen Municipal Gallery is the only “Kunsthalle” institution in Pilsen, which corresponds with its main focus. The exhibits introduce visitors to the creations of contemporary Czech and foreign artists, thus displaying the most current trends and tendencies in the fine arts. The pieces on display reflect the three areas that the gallery is devoted to.
Distinguished talents whose creative works have international reach and participate in forming the visual arts in Europe, present their best in “The Names in Contemporary Art” exhibit. These larger-than-life personalities even entice people outside the city to visit the gallery.
The “Current Themes in Art” project presents creations of high artistic quality, with uncommon themes and original, formal execution. It follows today’s artistic currents and where they’re headed.
“Pilsen & the World” introduces the public to creators from Pilsen. It displays both beginning artists, especially art graduates, and well-established authorities from the Pilsen art scene, who have received recognition even outside the Pilsen Region.
What else can you experience here?
An accompanying programme is regularly held alongside the gallery exhibits. Aside from the commentated tours and vernissages, you can also attend creator workshops here. You can visit the gallery for free every first Sunday of the month, and be sure to check the official website to see when and what events will be held here.
