A few steps for a wonderful view
Krkavec Hill stands 504 m above sea level, and it’s second only to Radyně as the tallest hill near Pilsen. You’ll need to walk up 98 steps to get to the viewpoint, but it’s most certainly worth it. That’s because a wonderful view awaits you from two observation decks, where you can see Pilsen’s surroundings and the Bohemian Forest. You’ll even be able to see as far as the Upper Palatine Forest, the Bavarian Hohenbogen Mountains, a small part of the Teplá Highlands, the Brdy Mountains, the Švihov Highlands, and the western part of the Křivoklát Highlands. And, of course, Pilsen itself. The observation tower has a long history and it was repaired multiple times, to serve future generations of visitors.
Krkavec has its own beer
At the Krkavec Observation Tower, you’ll find accommodation in apartments as well as a hospice and bistro that’s open 365 days a year and sells its own beer Ležák K1, which they rotate out according to the current season.
The area around Krkavec is also very popular for its forests, which offer pleasant walks and bike paths. You can reach the tower both by bike and on foot, and you’ll find three hiking trails at the top (red, blue, and green). A visit to Krkavec is ideal not only for sports-oriented people but also for lovers of nature and beautiful views.
