At the Museum of Ghosts and Fairy Tales, you can check out its exposition of monsters and story-book creatures that come from Pilsen itself or its surrounding region. Together with your children, you’ll take a look into the world of fairy tales and the magic of a time long forgotten. For instance, you’ll run into the fabled Lord Radouš, who they say still watches over Radyně Castle to this day, as well as water sprites, witches, fire dogs, dragons, and other mythical beasts.

Where can you find the museum?
The Museum of Ghosts and Fairy Tales is tucked away in the original cellar space below a former now-demolished home on the corner of Riegrova Street and Republic Square, under today’s Hotel Central. The hotel dates back to the end of the 1960s. Its predecessor had already been serving guests for hundreds of years before then. The local innkeeper tradition reaches all the way to the 19th century. The first hotel was built in this spot back in 1823 and it bore the name U Zlatého orla (At the Golden Eagle). The hotel was used for the visits of many significant individuals, such as the Russian Czar Alexander I and the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maxmilian.
What’s waiting for you amongst the ghosts and fairy tales?
In the museum, you’ll meet many mysterious beings of Pilsen’s past. Even those who enjoy little frights and aren’t afraid to traverse down the pathway of fantasy will find what they’re looking for here. You can also use the museum to organise original and entertaining birthday parties here for your little ones, including a less-than-traditional programme that guarantees a worry-free birthday experience.
