At the former brewery house “U Zlatého Beránka” (“At the Golden Lamb”) located right on Republic Square, an experience awaits you that simply every beer-centred city must have. At “Beerland Spa – the first beer spa in Pilsen”, you’ll enjoy a wellness trip in a beautiful and historic space with hand-painted murals and tiled stoves. The spa also offers two suites, where you can treat yourself to a healing bath in a beer infusion and herbal beer mix.
In the past, Egyptian women recognised beer’s desirable effects on the skin, as they used it to rejuvenate and replenish their complexion. Also, women from the Middle Ages used brewery waste as an admixture to their baths. The first written mentions of beer and beer foam’s positive effects when applied to the face and body came around the first century BCE. And in the 12th century, it was written that beer could restore lost strength and treat depression. Today, many of these claims have been scientifically proven to be true.
How does the spa treatment work?
You’ll enjoy a minimum of 1 hour of the rejuvenating spa treatment in a handmade, 1000 l, oak wood tub with water jets. The treatment is based on the same natural ingredients used by the Pilsner Urquell Brewery, namely Žatec hops, brewer’s yeast, and pilsner-type malt. The hops have a calming, anti-inflammatory effect that also tones and soothes the skin. The yeast neutralises the skin, helping to improve your complexion, and the malt reduces aging, hydrates, and cares for the skin.
While in the spa, be sure to apply the beer’s extracts not only externally but internally as well. During your spa bath, you can pour and drink an unlimited amount of Pilsner Urquell beer or Kozel brown ale. Immediately after the bath, you can relax on the natural spa beds made of organic wheat straws.
